DESCRIPTION

The $36.47 million Augusta Boat Harbour was officially opened in November 2014 after almost three years of construction. The Augusta boat harbour provides space for vessels between facilities at Albany to the east, and Busselton, to the north. The world-class, landmark facility provides commercial and recreational users with appropriate infrastructure to service the region’s tourism and commercial fleet with 2.8 hectares of sheltered water and 5 hectares of land for service facilities. It also serves as a regional base for sea search and rescue operations, supported by the Augusta airstrip.

BUSS was responsible for all expansion joints on the concrete walkways at Augusta Marina. The project involved various snag work towards the end of construction. The snag work involved multiple expansion, control joint, saw cut and vertical joint sealing. Further concrete repair work involved patching and repairing the corners of both door and window frames. All exposed concrete on the walkway was coated with a protective floor sealant. This sealant needed to be a marine grade penetrative sealer due to its constant exposure to high salt contents, foot traffic and marine life. There were multiple trips to the site, being three and a half hours south of Perth, causing BUSS to mobilise on several occasions.

BUSS operated under very limited timeframes, these often were small and specific intervals allocated to accomplish the work simultaneously with other phases of construction and various contractors.
