PROJECT – Liv Apartments
The project at Liv Apartments is a mixed-use residential development. It has three different buildings across two street frontages on both Queen Victoria Street and Quarry Street. Developed by Defence Housing Australia, Liv Apartments is located in the new East Side of Fremantle, a rapidly developing precinct. It is surrounded by Fremantle Park, Fremantle Leisure Centre, Fremantle Arts Centre and is only 1.2 kilometres away from the Fremantle City Centre. The development features 166 apartments and approximately 1300 square metres in commercial space. Additionally, Liv Apartments have been recognised by Bioregional’s One Planet Living for its commitment to environmental, financial and lifestyle sustainability, and is only the third community in Western Australia to do so.
BUSS’ contribution in Liv Apartments has been extensive, beginning in May 2017 the work spans over ten months of progressive concrete repair, joint sealing and waterproofing. The main involvement stems from the ongoing constructions of the new apartments, where BUSS systematically remediated all concrete works throughout. The work mainly included extensive Ritek Wall rectifications, remedial snag and defect work with various concrete patching, grinding, joint sealing and waterproofing.
Georgiou is a top end builder demanding not only the greatest quality of work but the highest level of occupational health and safety. The scale of the project demanded that all work carried out by BUSS was on time and organised in order to be flexible with the other surrounding trades which simultaneously worked throughout Liv Apartments construction. The project was made more complex by the use of complicated scaffolding systems, remediation of concrete stairs and working in confined spaces.
