Concrete Repairs and Joint Sealing

Blackwoods Distribution Warehouse

2. Repairs complete

Description

Backwoods is Australia’s largest supplier of industrial and safety supplies; its warehouse in Canning Vale is its main distribution centre. In mid-2018, BUSS was engaged by Savills, representing the owners, to complete an inspection on the failed expansion joints of the structure.

BUSS’ inspection located the expansion joint failures and also revealed a significant amount of damage to the concrete at the expansion joint edges; undoubtedly caused by fork lift traffic. It was essential that all damaged concrete be repaired prior to the sealing of the expansion joint.

Once the inspection was completed and a repair methodology developed BUSS proceeded with the repairs. The repairs involved jack hammer removal of drummy concrete, surface preparation, application of repair mortar, joint replacement to floor, around columns and column bases and peripheral precast walls – building perimeter.
