Concrete Patching, Grouting, Joint Sealing & Fire Proofing
Established in 1957, Campbell Barracks is an Australian< Army Base located in Swanbourne. Dating back to the late 1950’s, the existing facilities were not to a standard that would ensure the SASR could efficiently maintain a high level of operational readiness to meet the requirements of defence preparedness.
The facilities had surpassed their design life, were obsolete, lacked fundamental fire/building compliance and held multiple Work Health and Safety issues, therefore requiring a substantial upgrade and/or replacement to meet the capability requirements of the SASR. In 2017, a $220 million upgrade was completed at the base. The upgrade consisted of the construction of new specialist buildings that provided SASR personnel with the facilities required to work, operate, maintain and support the army’s efforts during war and peace time.
Due to security concerns, specifics of the upgrade remain classified, however the works did comprise of the demolition of dated buildings and the construction of new working accommodation blocks, a high-tech operations precinct and a more secure entry screening area. Buss were engaged by Lendlease, head contractor, to complete the joint sealing, grouting, concrete repairs/patching, fire proofing and waterproofing associated with the new building construction. Spanning 16 months, the works involved approximately 20,000 lineal metres of joint sealing; access for the majority of this work component was via Elevated Work Platform.
