Perth Arena
Joint Sealing and Waterproofing
BGC Construction

Description
BGC were awarded the construction contract for the Perth Arena, now known commercially as RAC Arena, a neo- futuristic sporting and entertainment arena in Perth’s city centre; its design is based on the eternity puzzle. BUSS was engaged by BGC to complete the joint sealing and waterproofing works.
The angular façade of the structure is of an unforgiving surface type and due to the nature of the reflection, required extreme precision in the execution of the waterproofing works. The joint sealing of the panels included an array of shapes, sizes and angles, specific to the architect’s design, and therefore were carried out via abseiling.
The majority of constructive work undertaken by BUSS was outside, conditional to the weather and other environmental factors. These external factors proved to be extremely influential in terms to concrete, waterproofing and abseiling work.
