Tianqi Lithium Plant
Crack Injection and Waterproofing
The Tianqi Lithium Plant, located in Kwinana, is the first lithium hydroxide plant outside of China and the largest of its kind in the world.
In 2017 BUSS was engaged by Accuweight to undertake specialist crack repairs which would resolve the structural integrity issues associated with the weigh bridge at the newly constructed plant. The structural beam is believed to have been damaged due to decreased cover and movement in the beam during the concrete pour at the time of construction; the crack locations were identified in an engineering report.
BUSS’ Specialist Applicators injected a low viscosity epoxy resin into the concrete cracks to complete the repairs. Additionally, a liquid applied waterproofing membrane system was installed in order to prevent water penetrating the reinforcement in the future, thus protecting the structural integrity from corrosion and concrete damage.
