Balgo is a community located within the Shire of Halls Creek, off Tanami Road, in Western Australia. Established by German missionaries in 1939, Balgo lies on the northern edge of the Great Sandy Desert and the western edge of the Tanami Desert in the south east of the Kimberley Region.
KRSP had installed a new steel liner ground water tank at Balgo and in late July 2021 engaged the services of BUSS to complete the installation of 2 new outlets/inlets to each of the 2 existing concrete ground tanks, which would tie the system together. BUSS’ work crew mobilised to site in early August to complete the following work scope:
• Layout and mark off tank wall area in readiness for core drilling;
• Core drill 2 holes to each of the existing 200mm thick concrete water tanks;
• Complete surface preparation works to the area;
• Assist in the setup, placement, alignment and securing of the SS spool;
• Application of Sika Swell S-2 to spool flange, as per drawings;
• Installation of formworks, seal and secure;
• Completion of grouting works to affected area(s);
• Removal of formwork and complete grinding works to make good the surface;
• Installation of Sikadur S512 strips as per product manufacturer’s specification; and
• Joint sealing.
